Five players from the U.S. side competed the same day for the first time in the history of Europe’s most prestigious club championship.
Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Tyler Adams, Sergino Dest and Ethan Horvath will all feature on the first day of the 2020/21 Champions League stage.
Defender Sergino Dest had come out from the start in a 5-1 victory over Ferencvaros in Barcelona. The 19-year-old is a newcomer to Barcelona in the 2020 summer market, but has been trusted by coach Ronald Koeman since the start of the season.
Christian Pulisic started the 0-0 draw in Chelsea versus Sevilla at Stamford Bridge right from the start. Coach Frank5-007 was blamed for allowing Pulisic to play in the right middle position. This is the place where Pulisic doesn’t work to the fullest.
The American attacking player played badly against Sevilla in the match. At the end of the match, Pulisic was pulled out to make room for young player Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Tyler Adams spent more than half an hour in Leipzig’s 2-0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir. The 21-year-old middleman came to make a substitute in the 58th minute.
In Dortmund 1-3 loss, Giovanni Reyna made an impression on Lazio. The 17-year-old American soccer prodigy came onto the field at the beginning of the second half, but performed well against the Italian representative.
Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath started Club Brugge with a 2-1 victory over Zenit. The goalie born in 1995 had several excellent situations to help the Belgian representative achieve an important victory.
Horvath can only be defeated in an unfortunate situation. Zenit centerman Dejan Lovren shot a long shot and hit the column and hit Horvath before flying into the net.
